This is a large 2.35 meter stone signpost built in 1838 along the Kumano Kodo.
The square face of the stone is inscribed with the directions of north, south, east and west as well as the names of pilgrimage sites such as "Kimiidera," "Sugu Kumano-michi," and "Ise-Kaya," serving as a guide for people making pilgrimages to various places.
